Terms & Conditions - the basics

Online Counselling Services (Australia)

Professional Membership

I am a Level 2 registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). My practice is guided by the ACA Code of Ethics and Practice.

Nature of Counselling Services

Counselling is a collaborative process that supports emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and mental health.

Please note:

  • Counselling is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or emergency services.

  • I do not prescribe medication.

  • I do not provide formal psychological diagnoses.

  • Medico-legal reports are not provided unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Online Sessions (Zoom)

All sessions are conducted via Zoom.

By booking, you agree to:

  • Attend sessions from a private and confidential location.

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection and working device.

  • Join sessions on time using the link provided.

While reasonable steps are taken to protect confidentiality, online services may carry privacy risks outside the counsellor’s control.

Fees & Payment
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • Your appointment is confirmed once payment is received.

  • Fees are listed on the booking page and may be updated with notice.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule.

  • Cancellations with more than 24 hours’ notice may be rescheduled or refunded (less transaction fees if applicable).

  • Cancellations within 24 hours and no-shows are non-refundable.

  • Exceptions may be considered in genuine emergencies at the counsellor’s discretion.

Confidentiality

All information shared in sessions is confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by Australian law, including:

  • Risk of serious harm to yourself or others

  • Suspected abuse or neglect (mandatory reporting)

  • Court subpoena or legal requirement

Privacy & Record Keeping

Personal information is collected for therapeutic and administrative purposes only.

Records are:

  • Stored securely

  • Kept in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)

  • Retained as required under Australian law

You may request access to your records in writing.

This service is not a crisis service.

Client Responsibilities

By engaging in counselling, you agree to:

  • Attend sessions free from the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Communicate respectfully.

  • Take responsibility for decisions made outside sessions.

  • Seek medical or psychiatric support when advised.

Scope of Practice

As an ACA Level 2 counsellor, I work within my professional training and competence. Where your needs fall outside my scope of practice, appropriate referrals will be provided.

Termination of Services

Counselling may be ended if:

  • The therapeutic relationship is no longer beneficial.

  • Fees remain unpaid.

  • Boundaries are violated.

  • A higher level of care is required.

Complaints Process

If you have concerns about the service provided, please raise them directly so we can attempt resolution.
